On Mother’s Day Kim Alfano Doyle, CEO of Alfano Communications traveled to Washington DC where she, and her daughter Isabella, accepted the “Best In Show” award from the Bipartisan Policy Center’s “Politics on Film” film festival.
This was the only trophy given for a political advertisement out of over 100 entries. The Award was given for the ad “Tragedy” made for the ’08 reelection of Governor Mitch Daniels. It is a moving depiction of his dedication to child welfare in Indiana and the great successes they have had in improving the system for the children of their state.
The festival (www.politicsonfilm.com) was the first of its kind in the Washington DC area. From their web site: “Politics on Film is a project of the Washington Political Film Foundation and is made possible by an alliance with the Bipartisan Policy Center. It is an annual, bipartisan film festival based in Washington DC dedicated to providing a platform for films that tell stories of America’s politics and policies. The festival celebrates the power of film to educate and motivate, as well as entertain. The Festival also celebrates the historic and ongoing legacy of films about American government and democracy, as well as related stories and themes from an international perspective.”
In addition to the feature length films participating in the festival there were eight categories of competition for political advertising. However there was only one overall winner of the political advertising “Best In Show” Award.
A bit of Hollywood in DC, winners of the feature length film part of the contest are participating in many other prestigious festivals including the famed Cannes Film Festival in France.
